01 / The discipline
Two movements. A whole craft.
Weightlifting is the art of moving an olympic barbell fast and clean: the snatch and the clean & jerk. With us it's not a federal competition club, it's an accessible discipline, built into CrossFit, that makes you more explosive and stronger.
01
The snatch
The barbell goes from the floor to overhead in one single movement. The most technical of the two: speed, mobility and timing before anything else.
02
The clean & jerk
From the floor to the shoulders, then overhead. This is the lift that lets you move the heaviest, in two controlled stages.
03
The transfer
Core, explosiveness, power: what you gain in weightlifting shows up right away on your CrossFit WOD and your Hyrox stations. You get stronger everywhere.
02 / The coach
Rémi. Your OLY coach.
Rémi Parizet, CrossFit certified coach (CF-L1), state-qualified (BPJEPS Activités de la Forme, weightlifting and strength training) and a weightlifting specialist (Brevet Fédéral level 1).A former rugby player who went through competition, he made sport his profession. His rule is simple: technique first, load second.A good listener, he tests every movement himself before having you do it, corrects you live and adapts the loads to your level, beginner or experienced.
The beginner who has never touched an olympic barbell
The crossfitter who wants to unlock their snatch and clean
The experienced lifter who wants better technique and bigger numbers
The whole team also coaches the weightlifting slots
03 / The zone
A zone dedicated to OLY.
No need to shove machines aside to make room: the box has a real weightlifting zone with cushioned platforms, olympic barbells and plates.Everything is there to lift clean and safe.
01
5 cushioned platforms
A dedicated weightlifting zone, set apart from the WOD flow, so you can drop your barbell safely and work on your technique in peace.
02

The questions we hear most about weightlifting.If yours isn't here, we're on 07 67 47 20 24.
Do I need to already know how to lift to come?+
No. Most of our members discover the snatch and the clean & jerk with us. We start with an empty barbell or PVC, we build the technique before adding load. Complete beginners welcome, it's actually the best time to start on solid foundations.
What's the difference between weightlifting, strength training and CrossFit?+
Strength training isolates one muscle on a machine. Weightlifting is two explosive olympic movements (snatch, clean & jerk) that fire up the whole body at once. CrossFit mixes weightlifting, gymnastics and cardio. With us, weightlifting is one building block of CrossFit, with a specialist coach and a dedicated zone.
Can I do only weightlifting with you?+
We're first and foremost an affiliated CrossFit box, so weightlifting fits into our classes and specialty slots rather than as a 100% standalone weightlifting class. But with the Thursday specialty slot, free access on the dedicated zone and Rémi's coaching, you can clearly make it your priority.
Is the equipment provided?+
Yes. Olympic barbells from 5 to 20 kg, bumper plates, cushioned platforms, it's all on site (Rogue and Fit'&Rack). You don't need to bring anything to get started. If you get hooked, weightlifting shoes can help you later, but they're not required to begin.
Is weightlifting dangerous?+
Badly learned, like any load-bearing sport, it can be. Well coached, it's the opposite: it's one of the best ways to strengthen your back, your hips and your core. Rémi's rule, technique before load, is built for exactly this. You progress safely, not by forcing it.
Where can I do weightlifting in Lyon or Villeurbanne?+
At the CrossFit Gratte-Ciel box, at 22 cours de la République in Villeurbanne, right by the République metro exit (line A), reachable from anywhere in Lyon. Dedicated weightlifting zone, specialist coach, first class free to try it out.
